Virtual Therapy

Therapy that comes to you.

Online counselling can be especially useful when getting to an office adds another layer of stress, time, travel, or logistics to an already full life.

Available across Alberta

Virtual sessions are available to clients who are physically located in Alberta at the time of their appointment.

This can make therapy easier to access if you live outside Calgary or Cochrane, are in a rural community, have a demanding schedule, experience mobility or health barriers, or simply prefer meeting from your own space.

You do not need to live near one of The Right Room’s physical offices to work together.

Joining Your Session

A few things that can make virtual therapy feel easier.

You do not need a perfect home office or a carefully staged background. The goal is simply to create enough privacy and comfort that you can focus on yourself for the session.

01

Find a private space

Choose somewhere you can speak freely without needing to monitor who might hear you. A bedroom, home office, parked car, or other private space can all work.

02

Use headphones if they help

Headphones can create more privacy and make conversation feel more contained, particularly if other people are nearby.

03

Bring whatever helps you settle

Water, tea, a blanket, a fidget, a notebook, or simply your favourite chair are all welcome. Virtual therapy gives you more control over the environment around you.

04

Camera on or off

Some clients prefer video because it feels more face-to-face. Others are more comfortable using audio only. You are welcome to choose what feels best for you.

Who It Works Well For

Sometimes removing the commute makes therapy more possible.

Virtual counselling is not necessarily a second-best version of therapy. For many people, being in their own environment makes it easier to attend consistently, regulate, speak openly, or fit therapy into real life.

Convenience

Busy schedules

Online sessions remove travel time and can make therapy easier to fit around work, caregiving, school, or other responsibilities.

Location

Outside Calgary or Cochrane

Virtual counselling allows clients across Alberta, including smaller and rural communities, to access The Right Room without travelling to a physical office.

Comfort

Your own environment

Some people find it easier to talk when they can stay in a familiar space with their own sensory supports, pets, blankets, drinks, or routines nearby.

Privacy + Technology

Simple, secure, and designed for therapy.

Virtual sessions are delivered through a secure telehealth platform. The goal is to keep the technology in the background so the session can still feel like a real conversation.

Technology

No special setup required

A computer, tablet, or phone with a reliable internet connection is usually all you need. Your appointment link is sent directly to you before the session.

Confidentiality

The same professional standards apply

Virtual sessions are treated with the same attention to privacy, confidentiality, informed consent, documentation, and professional standards as in-person counselling.

Privacy

Create as much separation as you can

If privacy at home is limited, headphones, a closed door, a white-noise machine, or joining from another private location can help create more separation for your session.
